Information on Vesicular Stomatitis

OVERVIEW

Both the USDA and Colorado Dept of Ag links have good info on detecting and reacting to this virus.   This virus is not life threatening, but is painful for infected animals and the vet should be called.   Infected sites are quarantined until a set number of days after the lesions heal.     The Colorado site has very detailed instructions on how to disinfect once an animal is infected.     Transmission is not entirely understood, but common food & drinking areas are highly probable.
