The lamb project will meet on the 1st Thursday of each month  at 6pm, with the first meeting being on the 13th of this month.   Meetings are open to all but especially to new members  --  we will go over what to look for when purchasing a lamb, what to have on hand, what to bring with you when you purchase your lamb, and what to expect at the auction on the 15th.

Our Project raises lambs for the Maricopa County fair in April.   Lambs are shown and judged in the Market class and optionally in Showmanship.  The lambs are then auctioned in the order in which they place for Market.   This is a terminal project.   In other words, lambs entered and shown must be auctioned to the highest bidder.   Most lambs are purchased with the ultimate destination being a local meat case.   For this reason, youth raising market lambs must hold a Quality Assurance certification.

See the Maps page for directions.

Keep current using the Lamb Project area of the Bulletin Board.

Forms

Both a Quality Assurance Certificate (see above) and a Self-Inspection Season Pass (see the forms page) are required for auction at the County Fair.

Feed

Lambs need quality feed, plenty of clean water and exercise.

  • Moorman's, now Alliance, offers a very popular lamb feed available at most Queen Creek feed stores.

  • Sunglo Feeds, popular with lambs in the mid-west and in the valley as swine feed, is not readily available in Queen Creek.
