Boron
is not found in every place on earth. It is only found in very hot springs and water sources. Like in the
Mohave Desert, Death Valley, and Turkey. Heating borax (Na2B4O7·10H2O)
with carbon
makes Boron the element it is today. Boron is also a good absorber of neutrons and is used in
the control rods of nuclear reactors of the nuclear plants as a radiation
shield. Boron is a solid rock or a solid powder in its normal form. It is shinny
in its pure form. Boron is a
bad insulator of energy at room temperature but extremely good at conducting
electricity at high temperatures. Boron
can be made into extremely hard yellow crystals that are
semiconductors like silicon.
